I don’t discount conspiracy theories *a priori*, but there’s another way of interpreting what happened in the Bill Cosby case. When, for whatever reason, Hannibal Burris’s comments about him went viral in a way other comedians’ hadn’t, this may have induced a bunch of women to reinterpret an experience they felt guilty/embarrassed/ashamed about in retrospect. It would be somewhat like the “mediagenic hysteria” Michael Fumento documented in the provably bogus story about a certain brand of car’s “runaway acceleration problem” several years ago: http://fumento.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Runaway-Hysteria-Skeptical-Inquirer.pdf.
